Una Defensa del Celibato Sacerdotal

Todo en el mundo—incluso el sexo, la familia y las relaciones del mundo—es bueno, pero no permanentemente. Pero aunque la verdad sobre la finitud del realidades del mundo puede ser proclamada con palabras, la gente solo creerá en ella cuando pueda verla. Es por ello que la Iglesia está convencida de que Dios escoge a algunas personas para ser célibes: para ser testigos de una forma trascendente de amor.

Stations of the Cross: Mary's Perspective

All are welcome to experience Stations of the Cross from a parent's perspective by praying Mary's Way of the Cross: at St. Aloysius Church in Olivia, this Wednesday, March 7 at 6:00 pm. There will be a free will supper to follow in the Jubilee Center. The supper is a fundraiser for Faith Formation. 

Reminder: March 3/4 is a One Priest Weekend.

This weekend, March 3/4, is a one priest weekend. Masses are as follows: Sat. 5pm ~ St. Aloysius, Sat. 7pm ~ St. John, Sun. 8:30am ~ Holy Redeemer, Sun. 10:30am ~ St. Marys. Please spread the word!

Catholic United Financial Breakfast - March 25th at St. Mary's

The St. Mary's Catholic United Financial Council is having an Eggs and Ham brunch on Palm Sunday, March 25th, from 10am -1pm. The breakfast is free will offering.  The proceeds will support St. Mary's School and Catholic United Financial will match up to $1000 raised!

New AFC Bible Study

A new Bible Study titled A BIBLICAL WALK THROUGH THE MASS is starting Monday, Feb. 26 at 1:30 in St. Mary’s Church Hall.  The cost of the materials is $22 and the study meets each Monday.  Contact Joan, at St. Aloysius parish, for more information.  All adults are welcome.

“America” Magazine’s Survey of Women in the Church

Last week, America magazine published a fascinating survey regarding the attitudes of women in the Church. They were kind enough to publish a few of my reactions to the study, but I would like, in this article, to offer a fuller response to their findings.

Stations of the Cross

  • Holy Redeemer–EveryWednesday throughout Lent, there will be a soup supper from 4:30-7:00 pm followed by stations at 7:00 pm.
  • St. John’s–Stationson March 21 at 6:00 pm. There will be a free-will potato soup supper served from 5-6 pm. The meal is a Faith Formation fundraiser.
  • St. Aloysius-EveryFriday 12:00 pm (Noon) stations followed by a Lenten meal in the Jubilee Center throughout Lent. On Wed., March 7 at 6:00 pm there will be stations from Mary’s perspective with supper to follow.
  • St. Mary’s-EveryFriday throughout Lent (except Good Friday) at 5:00 pm.
