April 24, 2020 AFC Update - Message from Fr. Joe
Apr 24, 2020
Dear members of the Heart of Jesus Area Faith Community,
I hope and pray that everyone is doing well this week. Please be assured of our prayers for everyone.
This week Bishop LeVoir has shared the following. “The Catholic bishops of Minnesota and some of our brothers and sisters of other faiths are working on putting in place protocols for the resumption of worship in our church buildings. It is uncertain when Masses will resume inside and what the protocols will be for Mass inside. The obligation to attend Mass on Sunday will continue to be suspended for a period of time after May 4.”
Once we know when we will be able to resume worship in our churches we will implement the guidelines that will be forthcoming. Hopefully in a few more weeks, you will have the option to once again receive Holy Communion.
Bishop LeVoir has also shared the following with us. "Archbishop Jose H. Gomez of Los Angeles, president of the USCCB, has written the following to all bishops. 'I am pleased to invite you to join me in a prayer of reconsecration of our nation to the protection of the Blessed Mother on May 1. This will give the Church the occasion to pray for Our Lady’s continued protection of the vulnerable, healing of the unwell, and wisdom for those who work to cure this terrible virus. I will lead this prayer of reconsecration at 12:00 p.m. PDT/3:00 p.m. EDT.'"
In the name of the Diocese of New Ulm, I will be joining Archbishop Gomez in this reconsecration. The title of Mary that will be used in the reconsecration will be Mary, Mother of the Church. The Canadian bishops and the United States bishops will all do the reconsecration together on May 1. I invite the parishioners to join me in this reconsecration of our nation to Our Lady during this time of pandemic.
We heard yesterday from Governor Walz that the remainder of the school year will be completed by continuing our “Distance Learning”. We will be looking into ways how to wrap up this school year at St. Mary’s and find new ways to celebrate our student’s accomplishments. Some form of preschool, kindergarten and 8th grade graduation will take place at the end of May and I am hoping we will be able to have some form of Baccalaureate or Senior Recognition for our high school seniors. We will keep you posted. Please pray a special prayer for all of our students, teachers and school staffs.
Enjoy the Spring weather, sunshine and rain and pray for a good planting season!
